On transforming traumatic stress

Even on the periphery of someone else’s journey – you can get sucked in to traumatic stress, however much you try to keep calm. Someone sent me a link today to a book about recovering from traumatic stress. Time, talking, when you are ready and just being outside doing ordinary things seems to work for me.

“Bessel van der Kolk, MD’s new book, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma. Just came out today. In it, Bessel gives us a new perspective on traumatic stress and its effect on the brain. Plus, he’ll show you how innovative treatments like neurofeedback, mindfulness techniques, yoga, and other approaches can help people rewire their brain after a traumatic experience. Bessel is probably the world’s leading trauma expert.  He’s got over 30 years of experience working with trauma survivors, and through his research, we can help trauma patients get their lives back” Ruth M. Buczynski, PhD
