Harvard psychologist Amy Cuddy’s advice to achieve a calm state is to be “present” so you can succeed in challenging situations without a sense of threat and achieve your full potential – whether you’re at a job interview, pitching your startup or any interview situation.
“People can tell right away if you’re present, and they judge you more positively when you are” Amy Cuddy (more)
In an interview with Business Insider, Cuddy said there are three things people see when you’re present:
You believe your story
You’re confident without being arrogant
Your verbal and nonverbal communication is in sync
My feelings on this – when i go for a swim, run, walk before something important, being in a happy place and switching off for a while – helps me to focus.
