The German Stork route or Deutsche Storchenstrasse is also a scenic route through north Germany. The route travels around Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Lower Saxony centering around the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Elbe River Landscape.
Another interesting link if you like Storks – is the Stork village in Bergenhusen where you may catch them soapbox racing.
Until then – you can watch the young storks teetering on the edge of their huge nest in this Storkcam in another German village further south – Gogglingen. They are already flying and out of their nest – but still living there there until September.
Have just watched the four storks crash land into their nest at the same time – and it looked a little scary.
Its a long way down.
