Road towards the Sun

This evening the road i was driving on was strait towards the sun setting besides the dark outline of the scarp of the Downs – the sky was stormy and grey clouds were tossed and swirling in the sky but in the middle – a patch of blue and in the middle of this, low down – the sun, a great golden orb surrounded by whispy clouds. Like a painting by an old master. So many beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the last few weeks.

Turner is one of my favorite artists. Looking at his big bold canvases, almost feel my eyes cant open wide enough to soak it all up

Sunrise – m.joy

Sunrise

Woke with unknown expectation
and pushed the window ajar.

my cat arrived and with excitement we listened
to the chorus of birdsong exploding outside
and felt the cool air

I know if i could see beyond the trees i could see the sunrise
and it would be very beautiful
but through the trees i can see glimpses
of firey red and umber
below the clear pale blue sky

Gradually the sky to the east behind the trees
fills with tangarene
like paint seeping along the paper
of a watercolour until
the whole sky glowed

and another day begins.
